- Magu told the Boko Haram victims that they would soon return home since the federal government was creating the opportunity
- He also told the victims at the two IDP camps in Abuja not to despair over the fate that befell them
The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, visited two camps of internally displaced persons located in Kuchingoro and Area 1 camps in Abuja in Abuja on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
Magu told the Boko Haram victims not to be demoralised by their present predicament but that they should remain strong since the end of their travail is near.
The victims were displaced by insurgents in the north-eastern part of the country and have since then lived in camps.
“I am aware that most of you never expected that you will find yourselves in this predicament. There are things we as human beings cannot change.
"But whatever situation we find ourselves, we can make the most of it. That is the reason I am here today to tell you that I feel your pains and to celebrate this special season with you,” Magu said.
Magu appealed to the IDPs to be disciplined and stay out of crime.
He also assured them that government was determined to end their suffering.
According to him, since peace was gradually returning to the north-eastern part of the country, the victims would soon return to their homes.
Magu used the opportunity to distribute food items to victims.
